Disk Utility

In recent times, disk utility has become increasingly relevant in various contexts. Does anyone know how to fix error -69845 in disk utility?. I keep getting fail errors when I run disk utility on "data" (see attached screenshot). File System verify or repair failed. : (-69845) I've tried in normal mode, safe mode and recovery mode.

Trying to completely erase / reformat the HD through Disk Utility. It seems to be stuck at a point where it states it's waiting for partitions to activate. Similarly, anyone know anything about this issue? APFS format option not available for internal SSD.
